Frequently asked questions

For clients

Hellenic Talent is a curated network of elite freelancers and experts from Greece and Cyprus, for advisory work, interim leadership, project delivery and embedded expertise. Everyone in the network has been through an in-depth interview with us, so we know each member personally, not just from a CV. You tell us what you need, we send a shortlist of hand-picked profiles, typically within 2 days, and we help with the proposal, the paperwork and the invoicing so the project can start right away.

We have any kind of talent you may need. Our network covers the areas below, with examples of what our members do:

The list is not exhaustive. See the roles we cover, or tell us what you need and we will say honestly whether we can help.

Four, and most projects fit one of them:

  • Advisor or expert: ad-hoc input or a retainer, for example a few days a month
  • Interim or fractional leader: a senior operator stepping into a role on your org chart, full-time for 3 to 12 months or a few days a week
  • Project manager: running a defined deliverable end to end
  • Embedded expert: a specialist integrated into your team for a few months

Engagements can be part-time or full-time, remote, hybrid or on-site, and last from a few days to over a year.

See our guide to choosing the right model

Both happen. Many engagements are remote or hybrid; some need days on site. Tell us your preference and we match on it: working style is one of our matching criteria.

No. The first call, the project brief and the shortlist are free. You tell us what you need, we put together a shortlist of hand-picked profiles, and you interview whoever you like. If nobody fits, you pay nothing.

Our fee applies only once you engage someone. It is a percentage of the agreed project value, deducted from it rather than added on top: see

Schedule a quick call to tell us your needs. We discuss the scope, the timeline and the budget, and come back with a shortlist, typically within 2 days.

The call and the shortlist are free, and there is no commitment: we are only paid if you find someone you like and start working with them.

After the call we write a short project brief (scope, ideal profile, timeline, budget) and you confirm it. We then find the most relevant freelancers in our network for your needs, brief them on the project to check that they are interested and available, and share a shortlist of typically 2 to 3 profiles, typically within 2 days. You interview whoever you like and choose.

Yes, and we encourage it. We arrange the introductions and brief each freelancer on your requirements beforehand, so they arrive prepared.

Yes. Some projects need complementary expertise, for example a transformation lead and a data scientist, and we can put together a small team.

Tell us what did not fit and we refine the search and propose other candidates. If we cannot find the right person, you pay nothing.

  • Our fee is a percentage of the project value agreed with you, deducted from it rather than added on top.
  • It falls with the number of months a freelancer has worked for you through us, counted per freelancer across all their projects with you.
  • We believe in complete transparency: before a project starts you see the rate that applies, what you pay and what the freelancer receives, and the freelancer sees the same figures.
  • We share the full fee schedule when you schedule a call or contact us, and it is set out in the Client Agreement you accept before seeing a shortlist.

No, unless we agree otherwise in writing for a specific project. When a milestone is done, the freelancer sends you a payment request with us in copy. You approve it, we send you one invoice for the agreed amount plus VAT where applicable, you pay us by bank transfer, and we pay the freelancer. One vendor, one invoice, a clear paper trail. Payment terms are 30 days unless we agree otherwise.

Do not approve the payment request, and contact us right away. We hear both sides and, where we can, help you and the freelancer find a way forward before any invoice is issued, and where appropriate we propose a replacement. We do not arbitrate or make binding decisions.

No minimum. Engage someone for a few days of advice, a defined project, or an ongoing arrangement such as 3 days per week, and extend or end it on the notice agreed in the proposal.

Yes. If you want to employ someone we introduced, tell us. An employment fee applies for a period after the introduction, as set out in the agreement you sign with us; the freelancer pays nothing. If you can show you already had a working relationship with the person before we introduced them, tell us at the time of the introduction and the fee does not apply.

For freelancers

Hellenic Talent is a curated network that connects elite professionals from Greece and Cyprus with quality clients, for project work, interim or fractional leadership, advisory and embedded roles. We connect you with clients who are looking for your expertise, help you finalise the proposal and the necessary paperwork, and handle the invoicing of the client, so you can focus on the actual project work. Joining is free and selective.

Professionals who currently work as a freelancer or have their own company, and who meet our typical minimum requirements:

  • 4 or more years of professional experience
  • Professional Greek (English is a plus; if you do not speak Greek, see )

We welcome project freelancers, interim and fractional leaders, advisors and embedded experts. Not freelancing yet, but interested in doing it in the future? We are happy to connect and help you get started.

Our typical minimum requirements:

  • 4 or more years of professional experience
  • Professional Greek (English is a plus; if you do not speak Greek, see )

Strong candidates typically also show:

  • Clear career progression (at least one internal promotion is a good signal)
  • Recent hands-on delivery in their field: projects they ran or delivered themselves in the last year or two, not only advisory or board roles

Meeting the minimums does not mean automatic acceptance, since we keep a high bar for our clients.

We aim to give you an update on your application within 5 working days. If your profile fits, we schedule a 60 to 120 minute interview and share a decision after it.

We review it against our quality standards, usually within 5 working days. If it fits, we invite you to a 60 to 120 minute video interview. Before we introduce you to a client we typically also take references. Read how the vetting works

A 60 to 120 minute video call, in four parts:

  • Your background: your career so far, the moves that mattered and why you freelance, or plan to
  • A deep dive into your project experience, with very detailed questions on what exactly your role was in each situation, to confirm your domain expertise
  • What you are looking for: the projects and clients you want, your working style and your rate
  • Your questions for us, and next steps

The goal is to understand your capabilities and preferences well enough to match you with the right clients.

No. Applying and joining are completely free. We only earn a fee when you work on a project we introduced.

We currently focus on Greek-speaking professionals, since most of our clients are Greek and Cypriot companies. English matters for international clients and projects. If you do not speak Greek, we still encourage you to apply: we assess every application as a whole and, where your expertise fits our clients, we can admit you to the network and connect you with clients who work in English. You do not have to live in Greece or Cyprus.

We speak with clients to understand their needs, and match each project brief to the most relevant members of our network, taking into account expertise, availability, rate and the preferences in your profile: industries, working model and companies you have excluded. When a brief fits you, we share it with you by email and in your account, and you tell us whether you are interested and available. The client may want to interview you first.

Yes, always. Declining has no effect on the projects we offer you next: we would rather hear a clear no than a reluctant yes. We only ask that you answer quickly, because the client is waiting for a shortlist.

Once a client has selected you for a project, you agree the payment terms directly with the client, in the proposal you prepare with our help. From then on:

  1. 1.When you complete a milestone, you send the client a payment request with us in copy, using the breakdown from the fee calculator in your account.
  2. 2.Once the client approves it, we invoice the client.
  3. 3.After the client's payment arrives, you invoice us for your share: the project value minus .
  4. 4.We transfer the money to your bank account.

You do not invoice the client, unless we agree a different route for a project in writing. The payment guide in your account walks through each step, including VAT and tax.

  • Our fee is a percentage of the project value agreed with the client, deducted from it rather than added on top of your rate.
  • It falls with the number of months you have worked for the same client through us, counted across all your projects with them, so your share rises over time.
  • We believe in complete transparency: before a project starts, you and the client both see our fee, what the client pays and what you receive.
  • The full schedule is in the Freelancer Agreement you sign when you join, and the fee calculator in your account shows the numbers for any project value.

We invoice the client and chase late payments ourselves, with reminders and, if needed, by pausing new introductions to that client. We can only pay you once the client has paid us, and we keep you informed along the way.

Two agreements frame every project: the freelancer agreement you accept when you join, and our agreement with the client. For each project you prepare a proposal (scope, deliverables, timeline and fee) with our guidance and templates, the client accepts it, and we confirm the project in writing to both sides. Keep us in copy of anything you agree with the client, so we can help if questions come up.

Contact us right away, ideally before a payment request is approved. We hear both sides and, where we can, help you and the client find a way forward. We do not arbitrate or make binding decisions.

By the time you invoice us, yes. What you need:

  • A sole trader registration (ατομική επιχείρηση) or your own company in Greece, or the equivalent in Cyprus or another country
  • A VAT number, where cross-border services require one

You can apply and go through the vetting before you set this up. The fee calculator in your account shows how VAT and withholding work for your situation. This is general information, not tax advice: ask your accountant.

Yes.

  • You set your day or hourly rate in your profile, and we only put you forward for projects whose budget fits it.
  • The rate for each project is agreed in your proposal with the client.
  • Our fee is deducted from the project value agreed with the client. The fee calculator in your account shows what a project value means for your share, and the other way round.

Often, yes. Many projects are remote or hybrid; some need days on site. Set your preference in your profile and we match on it.

No. Work with clients we introduced goes through us for the period in your Freelancer Agreement, whichever side suggests otherwise. If a client approaches you directly, tell us. If a client offers you a job, tell us too: the client pays an employment fee and you pay nothing. Clients you can show you already had a working relationship with before our introduction are exempt, provided you tell us at the time of the introduction. Your own clients and any work outside Hellenic Talent are not affected: there is no exclusivity.

No. There is no public directory and clients cannot search the network. We share your profile only with the client whose project we put you forward for, and never with companies you have excluded in your profile.

No. There are no subscriptions, membership fees or retainers, for clients or for freelancers. We earn a percentage of the agreed project value once a project starts, and nothing before. For the details, see the platform fee for and for .

In three stages. We review the application for credibility, depth of expertise and recent hands-on delivery. Those who pass come to a 60 to 120 minute interview, where we walk through a recent project in depth and test whether the person can run work end to end and is honest about what they do not do. Before an introduction we typically take references, with a bias towards former clients and direct reports. Members are reviewed again after every engagement. Read the full process

Yes. We are a Greek company and invoice clients in our own name, in line with Greek e-invoicing rules, with VAT where it applies. Freelancers invoice us for their share, and where the law requires it we withhold tax and pay it to the tax authority in their name.

Our network is made mostly of Greek and Cypriot professionals, based in Greece, Cyprus or abroad. Most of our clients are companies in Greece and Cyprus, and we also work with international companies that want talent from our curated network, for remote or on-site freelance work.

We comply with the GDPR and Greek data protection law. Your account data is held in a database hosted in the EU, and we share it only with the providers we need to run the platform and, for freelancers, with the clients we put you forward to. Our privacy policy lists those providers and the safeguards for any processing outside the EU, and explains what we collect, how long we keep it and how to exercise your rights.

Email us at contact@hellenic-talent.com. We typically respond within 2 working days, and urgent client or freelancer matters within a few hours.
